What Do These Requirements Mean?

Minimum Requirements

These specs should allow you to launch and play GTA 6 at the lowest settings. Expect 1080p resolution with Low graphics quality and approximately 30 FPS. The experience will be playable but not visually impressive.

Recommended Requirements

This is the sweet spot for most players. You should get a smooth 45–60 FPS at 1080p with Medium to High settings. A good balance between visual quality and performance.

High/Ultra Requirements

For the best visual experience with ray tracing, high-res textures, and dense draw distances at 1440p or higher. These specs should deliver 60+ FPS with most settings maxed out.

System Requirements FAQ

Are these the official GTA 6 requirements?+

No. Rockstar Games has not released official PC system requirements. These are educated estimates based on hardware performance scaling, game engine demands from GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, and expected next-gen open-world requirements.

Why is 16GB RAM listed as minimum?+

Modern AAA games are increasingly requiring 16GB RAM as a baseline. GTA 6's massive open world with detailed NPCs, vehicles, and environments will likely need substantial memory for asset streaming.

Will an HDD work for GTA 6?+

While it might technically work, we strongly recommend against it. Modern open-world games rely on fast asset streaming. An HDD will likely cause severe texture pop-in, long load times, and potential stuttering during gameplay.

Can I run GTA 6 with 8GB RAM?+

It's unlikely to provide a good experience. We estimate 16GB as the minimum. With only 8GB, you would likely experience severe stuttering, crashes, and extremely long load times as the system constantly swaps memory.
